Fire Officials Solve Mystery Of Brush Fire On US27

Another Fire In Parkland Shut Down The Sawgrass Expressway During Rush Hour

No Homes Were Damaged In These Two Fires

WESTON (CBS4) ― The brush fires in Florida's Brevard County have already damaged dozens of properties, but in Broward County residents have had to deal with some brush fire troubles of their own on Monday.

BSO Firefighters responded to the brushfire along US-27 late Monday afternoon in the Weston area. When they arrived they found a 50-yard square area on fire, with a piece of 2x4 wood burning in the center. After putting that fire out, they were alerted to another one about ½ a mile up the road. Once again they found another 2x4 piece of wood burning in the center.

The third time around they headed north again, and found a third fire—this time on a flatbed truck. Apparently as the truck was heading northbound on US-27, the wood deck of the flatbed underneath the truck caught fire, unbeknownst to the driver. As he continued driving the 2x4 pieces that were burning broke off and fell onto the grassy shoulder, starting all the fires.

BSO Fire Rescue officials are happy they were able to quickly put out those fires, because with the day's dry and windy conditions, it could have spread and become much worse.

The road was shut down for a while.

Another fire along the Sawgrass Expressway in Parkland shut down the road during rush hour as well.
