SWAT Team Responds To Overtown Shooting

MIAMI (CBS4) ― A Miami Police officer who was on routine patrol stumbled upon much trouble Thursday night after hearing shots fired from an apartment building.

The officer responded to the area of Northwest 4th Avenue and 8th Street after hearing the shots and called immediately for back-up. Shots were still being fired when police arrived. A resident at the apartment complex told the officer that someone was shot and on the ground inside the complex.

That victim has since been transported to the Jackson Memorial Hospital.

SWAT has blocked off the streets in the area as they looked for the suspect.
