Small Plane Crashes In Everglades

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) ― Authorities have found the body of a pilot whose small plane crashed in the Florida Everglades.

According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, drivers on Interstate 75 called reported seeing the low-flying aircraft Sunday night. Authorities say it appears the single-engine airplane nose-dived into the Everglades. Just

Homicide detectives found the body in the wreckage during recovery efforts Monday. The victim's identity has not been released, though the plane is registered to 49-year-old Edmundo Velazquez of Oviedo.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the pilot was alone in the plane. The aircraft took off from Kendall, bound for Ocala.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
